Portfolio Back to All Projects Umgeni Viaduct The Umgeni Viaduct comprises of two launched parallel decks, each 410 metres in length, spanning the Umgeni Valley in Durban. The launches utilised the largest hydraulic cylinders employed in South Africa to date, with three 350-ton hollow cylinders required to restrain each deck along a downhill gradient commencing at 9%. The project was undertaken on behalf of the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport.
